Perazim Magazine: Issue XV Highlights

We all hoped that 2021 would offer us the opportunity to start fresh and leave the devastating events of 2020 in the past. Despite the tougher than expected start to the new year there is still much to be grateful for and thankfully it finally looks like we may be reaching the end of what has been a challenging time for all of us. It seems that what we all need to do, now more than ever, is to maintain faith in the idea that better days are surely on the horizon. Incidentally the latest issue of Perazim magazine is focused on this notion of unwavering belief in the face of adversity. Here we reveal just a few of the highlights from Issue XV, which is available to purchase now.

Groomed to Perfection

There is perhaps no bigger act of faith than to launch your own company. After all the odds mostly point to failure. There are however the determined few, who manage to navigate the turbulent world of business. Once such Individual is former Barber Aaron Wallace who since launching his men’s grooming brand in 2016 has gone on to not only establish himself as a successful entrepreneur but also the face and name of a movement, which is seeking to offer black men tailored natural hair and beard products. Perazim sat down with the winner of the 2020 AskMen Grooming Awards to discuss the lessons he has learnt in business, his plans for the future and the misconceptions behind men’s grooming.

One of a kind

The world of business can often be thought of as a cutthroat place and thus far removed from any real moral obligations to be a good person. Joe Duku is one of the few proving that this doesn’t always have to be the case. In fact, this fashion entrepreneur is determined to maintain a strong ethical approach as he simultaneously continues to manage not one but two clothing businesses. The Ghanaian sat down with Perazim to explain how his faith in God continues to inform his life and career.

Motivation Nation

Motivation can be hard to come by at the best of times. Add to the mix a devastating pandemic coupled with increased insecurity about the future and you can start to see why many creatives are being put off by doing, well anything. In this profound and revealing column, senior writer Laura Waters discusses the idea of self-motivation, understanding what drives us and goal setting in an age of the grind. Laura also goes on to detail the differences between intrinsic and extrinsic motivation in what turns out to be a terrific first-hand account of a creative trying to find their place in this new normal.

About Author

My dream growing up was to become a football player. Unfortunately, I came to realise early on that it takes a lot more than just an exotic sounding name to be able to play in the Premier League. I have since set himself a new goal (see what I did there), which is to dedicate myself to working on meaningful creative projects, hence my involvement with Perazim. I joined the magazine in October 2019 as a writer and have gone on to occupy every position in the editorial team. As the Editorial Coordinator I am directly responsible for managing a team of writers and for providing them with guidance on all content related issues. Aside from my duties at Perazim I spend my time performing stand-up comedy across the country, hosting my own radio show and attempting to memorise the entire TFL map.
