Perazim Magazine Releases Issue #11, Featuring Soul Singer Robyn Charles on the Cover
Los Angeles, CA. Perazim Magazine (@perazimmagazine) has released Issue #11, featuring soul singer-songwriter Robyn Charles (@robynlcharles) as the cover star. Her interview covers legacy, advocacy, and what it takes to build a career as an independent artist today.
Robyn Charles Steps Out From a Legendary Shadow
Robyn Charles carries one of soul music’s most recognized last names, and in this issue she talks openly about what it’s like to honor her father’s legacy while still sounding like herself. “We just have a different sound and, in many cases, different motivations for how and why we make music,” she says.
The cover story covers a lot of ground: her early work in blockchain and Web3 as tools to help independent artists get paid fairly, her advocacy for domestic abuse survivors, and her mentorship work with organizations like Rising Stars Africa. She also opens up about her songwriting process, how her voice has changed over the years, and a 2015 performance in Detroit that she calls one of the most meaningful of her career.
“When people see me, hear my voice, or remember me… I want them to know that I’m here because of them and for them,” Charles says.
